The ''Carter Cottage'', circa 1905 is one of only 5 remaining original cottages in the Verona Park area of Verona Island. Verona Park is rich in history. When the hotel and cottages were being built, it was intended to be known as the ''2nd Manhattan'' to visitors and investors. This property with long shore frontage encompasses the area where the original hotel and pier was located where visitors from Boston, New York City and beyond vacationed in the early 1900's. Today, Verona Park has a scattering of homes and cottages along the quiet road. The deep water frontage offers beautiful views and incredible sightings of large ships that make their way up the river. Verona Island offers easy access to all coastal destinations via Route 1. The Penobscot Narrows Bridge has the tallest bridge observatory in the world and Fort Knox offers a day of exploring along the river. Come spend your summers here and enjoy this charming cottage and the beautiful area. Long road and water frontage offers the potential for additional building sites, check with the town for clarification. Currently no water in the cottage, will need a drilled well. There is an addition in the rear with a nice kitchen and a room intended for a bathroom. Newer outhouse sits atop a large concrete septic tank.
